Established in the 1940s by Mrs. Gauntlet, The Mayfair of Colwyn Bay houses three floors of fashion and has been in the present owner’s family since 1975.
This charming Victorian building boasts three flights of oak staircases, stained glass windows and more historical features like a 19th-century mosaic floor. The Mayfair prides itself on a personal service and personally selected pieces from luxury ladies brands such as Joseph Ribkoff and Oui.
The Mayfair sells a variety of luxury ladies fashions comprising of casual day, cruise wear and outfits for weddings, including ‘mother of the bride’.
Debra Matthews, who has now taken over from her mother, Enid Williams, has come back to her roots after spending 10 years in London as a store manager for the C&A retail chain. With extensive experience in visual merchandising and management, Debra’s past 27 years here at The Mayfair have seen her successfully continue the family legacy.
Mrs. Matthews, who describes The Mayfair’s style as, “finding a balance between classic dressing with a fashion edge”, also feels that the personal service given at The Mayfair helps her buy with her customers in mind when she’s meeting designer representatives in London for her new season collections.
Although brands like Gerry Weber and Faber Woman already have built-in reputations, the collective support and warm, helpful assistance given by Debra and the team are why The Mayfair continues its quality-driven traditions.
Our team of incredibly knowledgeable and experienced ladies are always on hand to help you with your shopping needs.
